Anteprima Fiere Vino Gambero Rosso has become the – not so – unofficial opening of the wine fairs season. – Enoteca Alessi, Friday March 29th, noon / 7pm.

As usual, Enoteca Alessi Florence is one of the selected high profile wineries across Italy that will host one of the Anteprima events.

9 estates, 18 labels, for a juicy preview of VinItaly and ProWein.

Estate/Cantina: Tenute Orestiadi

Area: Valle del Belice – Gibellina (Trapani,Sicily)

Wine: Grillo 2018

100% Grillo DOC Sicilia – White

Grillo inherits the fresh, floral hints of the Sicilian DOC Grillo grape, with notes of green tea, bread crust, and orange blossom.

A perfect match for a swordfish carpaccio, mussels, or aubergine pesto.

Wine: Perricone 2017

100% Perricone DOC Sicilia – Red

Deep red color with notes of red berries, black pepper, and Mediterranean spices. It tends to acquire hints of licorice with aging.

A perfect match for fresh cheeses, pork, lamb chops, or green olive patè.

Estate/Cantina: Nals Margreid

Area: Nalles (Bolzano / Bozen, South Tyrol)

“Mountain” estate since 1932.

Wine: Sirmian Pinot Bianco 2017

Pinot Bianco – White

A lively white wine with apple, citrus, and ripe pineapple notes. An ideal aperitif wine because it matches light starters, pasta, and fish.

Wine: Jura Pinot Noir Reserve 2016

Pinot Noir – Red

Pinot Noir Reserve with bodily notes of berries and cherries. A perfect match for meat, game, or salty cheese.

Estate/Cantina: San Donaci

Area: San Donaci (Brindisi, Puglia)

Wine: Anticaia Rosato 2018

90% Negroamaro, 10% Malvasia – Rose

Coral red color, raspberry and strawberry notes with a dry finish. A great match for fish soup, white meat, or raw seafood.

Wine: Anticaia 2015 Reserve

90% Negroamaro, 10% Malvasia – Red

Aged in the Barrique for 24 months and then aged in the bottle.

Red fruit notes, with hints of black pepper and leather. Gently tannic, its perfect match is venison with porcini mushrooms.

Estate/Cantina: Gozzellino

Area: Costigliole d’Asti (Asti, Piedmont)

Great, traditional strong Piedmont wine since 1914.

Wine: Barbera d’Asti Superiore Sergio

100% Barbera – Red

A ruby red Barbera with intense notes. It exalts beef dishes, game, grilled meat, or blue cheese.

Wine: Moscato d’Asti Bruna

Moscato grapes – spumante wine.

An intense wine with wisteria, acacia flowers, honey, and sage notes. The perfect pairing for a fruit tart. It is surprisingly versatile with Indian food or, served chilled, with oysters.

Estate/Cantina: Riunite & CIV

Area: Campegine (Reggio Emilia, Emilia Romagna).

Since 1950, Cantina: Riunite & CIV means Lambrusco, but Lambrusco is not the only wine produced by this association of producers.

Wine: Maschio dei Cavalieri Rive di Colbertaldo ’17

Maschio dei Cavalieri is one of the Riunite & CIV labels. Rive di Colbertaldo is a Prosecco with 85% Glera grape and 15% other grapes.

Elegant and fruity, it pairs well with fish, shellfish, or fresh fruit.

Wine: Lambrusco OttocentoNero Albinea Canali

Red bubbling Lambrusco wine.

Intense and spiced, the Albinea Canali Lambrusco wine “OttocentoNero” matches pork, hearty soups, or cheese.

Estate/Cantina: Velenosi

Area: Ascoli Piceno (Marche)

Wine: Roggio del Filare, Rosso Piceno Doc Superiore

Montepulciano 70%, Sangiovese 30%.

A bodily red wine to match with meat dishes.

Estate/Cantina: Belcolle

Area: Verduno (Cuneo, Piedmont)

Wine: Barbera d’Asti Nuwanda

100% Barbera. Red wine

An American Indian name for a Barbera with a twist. Deep ruby red color and berry notes with a fresh, yet intense taste. It is ideal for aged cheese, game, or meat dishes.

Wine: Langhe Nascetta

100% Nascetta.

A fruity, velvety white wine that pairs well with fresh cheese and fish.

Estate/Cantina: Valdo

Area: Valdobbiadene (Treviso, Veneto)

Since 1926, Valdo, the estate at the heart of the related terroir, means Prosecco!

Wine: Rive San Pietro di Barbozza Valdobbiadene Extra Brut ’17

100% Glera Valdobbiadene. Sparkling white wine.

Perfect with all fish.

Wine: Numero 10 – M. C. Valdobbiadene Brut ’16

100% Glera Valdobbiadene. Sparkling white wine.

Another great example of Spumante Brut.

Estate/Cantina: Ridolfi di Montalcino

Area: Montalcino (Siena, Tuscany)

With Ridolfi di Montalcino, we go back to “our” Tuscany and the land of Brunello.

Wine: Ridolfi Brunello di Montalcino ’14

100% Sangiovese – Brunello, red wine.

Brunello is a perfect match for red meat, venison, or game. Its complex structure makes it a great meditation wine too.

Wine: Ridolfi Rosso di Montalcino ’17

Slightly less structured than Brunello, a Rosso di Montalcino matches well with red meat, cheese, or risotto.
